Freelancing programmer
I also had a design that never got used that mimicked the old low-poly visuals Runescape had. In smaller form factors the low-poly design got lost and you couldn't tell it apart from the current logo.
My client is a freelancing programmer and at the time he was developing a bot for a platform called discord, he wanted a logo for the discord bot and he asked me to make a wizard hat for him. when doing research on wizards hats I saw the hat from a popular old school game called 'Runescape' and took it as inspiration. I went to a minimalistic style with flat colours and basic cell shading. I made this logo using very simplistic lines and shading so it's easy to recognizable in small thumbnails.
Fiver freelancing
When my client came to me and asked for a thumbnail for his gig on fiver he had some requests for the information displayed, he wanted it to mention the language he was using (python), and a couple of brief sentences saying what he does. I added some symbols displaying some extra information The platform(discord), the coder(my client), the language(python), the artist(myself).
Discord's mascot is called Wumpus and as everything here was discord themed I thought it was fitting to add wumpus in.
Typography
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
This is the font that discord use and as I was trying to emulate the discord theme I used it. I decided to keep the logo font the same even though discord went through a rebrand but this had some backlash.

This coin is being used for his in-game currency and its play off the bitcoin design.

The client needed a GUI for the backbone for his discord bot. He said he didn't want anything fancy as it's just for him to use for analytics or just maintenance so I tried to keep it simple while trying to fit as much information in without it feeling crowded.
